Candace's family is well known in the Hudson area having been
residents for 36 years. Candace's father, Allan Sveda, is an architect who is known for owning and renovating many historic
buildings in the area. (He restored and owns the Evaporator Works shopping complex of which Candace's building is a part.)
Candace graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with concentrations in Interior Design and
Jewelry design. Attending Kent State allowed Candace to start working on interiors projects with her father's architectural
firm while in college. Some of her first projects were the main offices and branches of Falls Savings and Loan. Her first
project upon graduation was the North Chestnut Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio.
Established in 1978 with Candace and her mother,
Garnet, the business now includes Tracey Crawford, her sister, as the business manager. Also, there are
assistant designers and design interns who play a major role in the everyday operation of the studio.
